At Zooma, we work on many different projects: for government agencies, multinationals, small and medium-sized businesses, and exciting startups. It’s great work, and we’re all proud of every single project. But for us Leideners, one project is a real home game—and a true honor: the 3 October app. The entire program for Leidens Ontzet—the world’s biggest Leiden festival—right in your pocket.

In September and October 2026, Zooma will be migrating from Microsoft Azure to the European cloud provider Scaleway. This applies to the apps, websites, backends, and integrations we build and manage for our clients, as well as to our own platforms: Youmie, TMSQR, Blybahn, and De Dorus. Our data was already stored in Europe. Now, the company behind our hosting is also based in Europe.

As tech developers, we know exactly how social media works. As parents, we’re concerned about it. Blybahn was born out of that dual perspective.

Some things are born out of passion, and Zooma is no exception. The name Zooma was inspired by Neil Young’s album Zuma. What once began as an idea has grown into a creative development studio with an enduring love for music.

What if you could keep track of all related children's birthdays at once, without having to text everyone separately, without the hassle of manual calendars, and without social media?

Kiddie Calendar is a passion project by Guy and Aline. The idea arose from something very familiar: it's easy to forget the birthdays of friends' and family's children, and because kids don't have social media, you miss reminders.

At Zooma, we love to build. Apps, ideas, entire platforms. But every now and then, we also build memories. Our Christmas outing in Leiden was a perfect example of this: cultural, competitive, and above all, great fun.

Recently, two of our project managers attended the very first PM Day organized by Dutch Digital Agencies (DDA) in Utrecht. DDA is a new network of similar digital agencies in the Netherlands, focused on sharing knowledge and helping each other improve. For Tom and Thomas, it was a great opportunity to spend an afternoon brainstorming with colleagues about the PM profession.

Ten years ago, Kevin first walked into Zooma. Back then a small team with big ideas. What started as an internship in 2015 grew into an impressive career and a permanent place in the heart of our company. He has since been named Employee of the Decade.

On Friday, July 11, we traded in our laptops for oars at Zooma. An active team building day on the water, conceived and led by colleague Nick. What started as a company outing ended as a lesson in rhythm, strength and cooperation.

The 'sharing hour' is an inspiring regular feature at the beginning of every themed get-together at Zooma in which colleagues briefly and powerfully present their recent projects and results. During this informal moment, developers, project leaders, designers and others briefly show what they are proud of; this can vary from completed customer projects, self-thought innovative concepts, to results from special internal sessions such as the Fanatical Friday. The goal is to inspire each other, increase involvement and make clear what everyone within the growing company is working on.
