Zooma celebrates Christmas in Leiden

At Zooma, we love to build. Apps, ideas, entire platforms. But every now and then, we also build memories. Our Christmas outing in Leiden was a perfect example of this: cultural, competitive, and above all, great fun.

A great workplace isn't just about what you create, but also about who you create it with. At Zooma, we employ people who are curious, have an eye for detail, and enjoy discovering things together. This is reflected not only in our projects, but also in how we spend time together.

For our Christmas outing, we deliberately chose Leiden (where our office is located!). A city with a rich history (over 450 years old), full of stories, creativity, and local places that perfectly match who we are.

The afternoon started at Museum De Lakenhal. This is not just any museum for us: we once had the privilege of building the app for it. So it was extra fun to walk through the museum with the whole team and gain new inspiration.

We did a short "speed run" past the highlights of the museum and the Masterful Mystery exhibition. The program was tight, but that's what made it interesting. Developers are known for their eye for detail (not stereotypical, but recognizable 😉), and that's exactly what came together here: looking quickly, observing sharply, and still wanting to see everything in the museum.

After this cultural pit stop, it was time for action: Stadsganzenbord. We went into the city in groups, armed with a list of assignments, questions, and, of course, a healthy dose of competitive spirit. And yes, that competition was palpable. Not everyone at Zooma lives in Leiden, so for many colleagues this was a fun and accessible way to discover the city. From hidden streets to stories from the rich history of the key city.

At the end of the afternoon, we gathered again at the Dorus for a snack platter. In the evening, we walked (or cycled) to the Wibar around the corner. Normally a creative hotspot and club in Leiden, but this evening exclusively for Zooma. The space was beautifully decorated and we enjoyed a three-course Christmas dinner, provided by the culinary friends of Julia, our designer. That made it extra personal.

Together at the table, good conversations, lots of laughter, and no rush. After dinner, the Wibar became a club again, as usual, where we naturally stayed for a while.
