SURFsharekit is a repository for materials developed within higher education, such as thesis products, research publications and learning materials. SURFsharekit allows students, researchers and teachers to share these materials with a specific group or with the whole world.
Rights
Each institution has its own system with associated permissions.

SURF
SURF is the ICT cooperation organization for education and research in the Netherlands. Within the cooperative, universities, colleges, mbo institutions, research institutions and university medical centers work together on ICT facilities as well as ICT innovations.
In late 2019 Zooma won a tender and since then we have been working on the challenging project 'SURFsharekit': a service that enables higher education institutions to manage and share knowledge materials (e.g. research publications and thesis products).
Collaboration & technology
The teams of SURF, Daily Creations and Zooma have been working on the Sharekit platform in intensive sprints since 2020. Daily Creations develops the designs and Zooma is responsible for the frontend, the backend, the various links and migrations.
The frontend is built with React, the backend with JSON:API and Silverstripe. The frontend runs separately from the backend so that if the design changes in the future, the backend does not need to be modified. Think of it as sort of an app in a website.
