A progressive web app for Speurroutes
Zooma developed the app for Speurroutes! Speurroutes develops tracking routes through cities. With the app, the organization has added an important asset to its already successful booklets; the app is always up-to-date, can be sold 24-7 online and the app gives immediate feedback on the solution entered.
Speurroutes has already created more than 25 routes in cities. Murder routes, spy missions and treasure hunts. While sleuthing for tips and clues you will discover cities; the sights but especially the lesser known spots. We have walked routes ourselves of course, a lot of fun!
The project
Speurroutes Nederland approached Zooma with the question: can you help us digitize our tracking route booklets in the form of an app? The goal was and is to be able to market the concept more widely and give customers the choice between the printed booklet and the app. With success because the booklets and app are now embraced by a wide audience and are offered through their own webshop and a large number of tourist information offices, hotels and stores in the country. And the app has proved to be a valuable addition!
The technology
Since Speurroutes wanted to roll out and test/validate the app as quickly as possible, we opted for a 'progressive web app' (PWA). A PWA is a 'web app on steroids'; a website that behaves as much as possible like a native app. The advantage is that a PWA is quick and inexpensive to develop, readily available for both Android and iOS (it is, after all, 'just' a website). PWAs have pros and cons, our intern Chris wrote a blog about them before, but for Speurroutes this PWA is the perfect digital start.
