Snooper is based in Manchester (UK) and is part of Cobra Electronics. Based in Chicago (USA), Cobra Electronics is a leading global designer and supplier of consumer electronics for mobile communications and automobiles.

Snooper is the market leader in truck and RV navigation. Snooper's advanced navigation technology takes into account the size and weight of a truck or RV and calculates a suitable route, avoiding height restrictions and narrow roads where necessary.

Day in and day out, many thousands of drivers throughout Europe rely on Snooper's navigation systems. For drivers of both trucks and motorhomes, it is of course crucial to have a navigation system with the latest map software and danger zones at all times.

The management of Manchester, UK-based Snooper approached Zooma and asked: can you build a multilingual Mac app that allows our customers to quickly, easily and hassle-free download the latest maps, POIs and danger zones to their Truckmate and Ventura navigation systems.

Together with the Snooper team, Zooma first detailed the app by wireframing each app page. Based on these wireframes, Zooma designers then developed the designs. And of course we showed the English extensively our city of Leiden during their visits :-)

The Mac Updater is a complex product 'on the back end' since it has to 'talk' to different types of navigation systems and has to be linked to various backend systems and real-time databases. In addition, each download involves large amounts of data from map vendor HERE.

On the front end, however, the Mac Updater app is very easy to use. As soon as the Snooper customer pairs a navigation device with a Mac, it will recognize the device and immediately indicate whether new updates are available. Then the customer can start the download process in just a few clicks.
