Thru My Eyes

Zooma, together with ProQR, a company based at Leiden Bio Science Park, has developed an app that mimics different stages in eye diseases. The app shows what a person with an eye disease, such as Leber's congenital amaurosis, sees.

Thru My Eyes app

Zooma has the honor of collaborating on ProQR's Thru My Eyes app; a tool for doctors, patients and stakeholders that visually depicts how someone with a rare eye condition experiences the world. Using camera filters specially developed by Zooma, the app best approximates the various stages of eye diseases such as night blindness, Leber's cibgenital amaurosis and nystagmus. The app also allows users to set their own filters.

Of course, it is difficult to say for sure what someone else sees exactly, especially with a severe eye defect, but based on user feedback and the knowledge of ProQR scientists and doctors, we are constantly improving the app. Using 'artist impressions' images created by ProQR scientists, we are constantly approaching the actual vision of someone with an eye condition. An incredibly complex but interesting challenge!
