Minerva

The oldest student association in Leiden

Minerva is the oldest student association in the Netherlands, founded in 1814. The association approached Zooma in 2016 to help think about a new app. And since then, the app has been the digital hub of the association, the social hub for its more than 2,400 members, with impressive user statistics that Mark Zuckerberg would envy ;-)!

The Minerva members app

Minerva has more than 2,400 members. How does everyone stay up to date with the latest news? How do you ensure that all members and committees can reach each other quickly and easily? How do you communicate important messages to all members as quickly as possible? Through an app of course.

The goal was clear: a modern reliable app that makes the Minervans even more involved in the association. A social hub. With of course all members, committees, sub-associations, houses etc, an interactive almanac, map, news, calendar, photo albums, push notifications, and the ability to edit your own profile and pay bills.

### Continued development

Minerva and Zooma have entered into a long-term partnership in which Zooma continues to develop the apps for Minerva each year based on member feedback, user statistics and new insights and ideas.

New ideas for features or improvements are collected in the backlog in Gitlab and detailed into sketches and designs. Then these (like an in-app liquor store :-)) are built into the apps.

Each new feature is first worked out in sketches, usually created in Basemiq.

Design

Then the Zooma designers translate the sketches into designs made in Figma.

Development

Finally, the developers build in the new features and launch them in the stores!

Youmie

The results speak for themselves! The new app was launched in the summer of 2016 and usage has been tremendously good ever since. On average, 95% of Minervans open the app 3-4 times a week with an average session duration of 2 minutes.

This success has not gone unnoticed and more and more sororities would like to have one of those crafted by Zooma ;-) And so we have moved the apps we build into a separate project called Youmie.
