Zooma @ the Port of Rotterdam!

This week Zooma was on a working visit to the Maasvlakte in the Port of Rotterdam. It was the start of a multi-year project we get to carry out for IMPEL (funded by the European Union). We are going to build apps & analysis tools that inspectors, police officers and customs officers in 35 countries will use to perform inspections on transports.

Part of the Zooma team had the opportunity to attend a customs inspection of a suspicious container at the Maasvlakte. This gave us a good idea of how an inspection works (pretty high tech by the way!). We also spoke at length with customs officers and inspectors/advisers from the Environment and Transport Inspectorate.

One of the main objectives of the project(SWEAP) is to reduce illegal trade in waste. In the coming months we are going to identify the needs of the parties involved and translate them into mockups and designs. Given the large number of countries and parties involved, an interesting job! And then we will build the apps in 3 different development sprints.

Read more about this in our case study.
