Mare is a household name in and around Leiden and has been around since 1977... Although its history goes back much further to 1931! Nice is this explanation on Wikipedia: "The name Mare refers to three things: the Dutch word for message; the water flowing through Leiden; and (but-eh) a slight form of contradiction.
