Android O is coming!

The new Android version will be released around the end of summer. For now, they call this version Android O. Android releases a new version every year with a new name along with it. This name starts with the next letter in the alphabet and always has something to do with sweetness. For example, the past three versions were: Lollipop, Marshmallow and Nougat. What will it be this year? Oreo? Oatmeal Cookie? That remains to be seen, but there is already a lot of speculation.

Android O brings with it many improvements. One is the new picture-in-picture mode. For example, if you watch a movie, it will disappear in a small window when you switch to another app. Google also thinks well of your battery. When your device is on standby, many apps are often still active. Therefore, starting from Android O, apps are only allowed to do limited things in the background to save more battery. On websites, you can often already have your username and password filled in automatically. This is often not the case in an app. But that's about to change. Starting from Android O, just like on websites, you can have your username and password filled in by passwords stored in Android or by a password manager.

Of course, these are just a few of the many improvements Android O has to offer. Improvements for the user and the developer. That's why we always test the apps we build when a new Android version is released and see if everything still works and what improvements we can possibly make use of.
