The new year is already in full swing, but we still fondly remember our Christmas celebration in December. It was an afternoon and evening full of fun and good food - all Zooma-style!

Last Thursday afternoon part of the Zooma team went to Alkmaar for some sim racing at RaceSquare Alkmaar. In a hyper-realistic F1 simulator we competed against each other and for a moment we felt like real racing drivers. Well, some of us did. Others drove around as if they were in the bumper cars at the fun fair :-)

This Thursday, the 19th, Zooma's annual "Open House" festival will take place in our building [De Dorus](<https://dedorus.nl/blogs/open-huis-festival>). Expect a relaxed atmosphere with interesting speakers, young up-and-coming bands and tasty drinks. This year there will even be a food truck pulling up!

Starting in the second half of June, the Zooma office will close for a few weeks due to renovations. This is much needed to provide our growing team with a comfortable and flexible office with sufficient calling, concentration and meeting rooms. Plus, it's a great time to give the office a fresh, new look! It does present a challenge that we are temporarily without an office, but that went well during corona too :-)

Zooma has been building state-of-the-art apps for study and student associations under the name [Youmie](<https://youmie.nl>) since 2016. The apps quickly became the digital membership platforms for several major student associations.

In the winter of 2023-2024, computer science students Daniël and Katinka of Leiden University of Applied Sciences built a complete narrowcasting system for Zooma's coworking building De Dorus during their third-year internship. On large Sony screens in various places in the building, information is displayed about the various companies in the building, get-togethers and events, solar panel yields, the weather and much more.

Zooma has been working as a tech partner on [TMSQR](<https://zooma.nl/ons-werk/project/TMSQR>) since 2015; now an established name in the interesting world of music festivals and fans of live music. TMSQR started as a platform for festivals apps but recently started offering 'standalone' apps!

In the revolutionary development of [BlinkLab](<https://www.blinklab.org/>), Zooma and the prestigious Princeton University explored the limits of the smartphone. [The BlinkLab app](<https://apps.apple.com/bh/app/blinklab/id1606924220>) uses the iPhone in unconventional ways, turning it into a device suitable for conducting neurobehavioral assessments.

For bookstore [De Kler](<https://www.dekler.nl>), Zooma developed a new responsive website / webshop in 2023 in five intensive sprints. De Kler is a well-known name in the book trade with no less than twelve physical stores spread over as many cities in the Randstad.

Zooma has participated in a very nice project since 2020: Hospital Hero. The purpose of Hospital Hero is to optimally prepare parents and children for a hospital visit and thereby reduce the stress, tension and anxiety experienced by both children and parents.

De Dorus is our very own coworking building. De Dorus offers professional coworking, office and meeting spaces for small and medium-sized businesses, remote corporate employees, entrepreneurs and creatives.

In addition to building products for clients, we also develop our own digital concepts. These "hobby projects that got out of hand" act as our innovation platform; it's where we experiment with the latest techniques and ideas. It keeps us on our toes, it's incredibly fun and it makes us a better (sparring) partner for our clients. In our Zooma Labs sessions, we pitch new ideas and techniques to each other.
